Poll: Have You Used Photoshop CS5 Extended’s 3D Tools?

When Photoshop CS5 Extended was released back in April 2010, I was really excited about some of the new 3D tools that Adobe had included. 3D Repousse was a feature that many of us had been asking for. We no longer had to depend on Illustrator, 3D software, or other creative techniques to create 3D effects. I was shocked however to hear on Photoshop’s Facebook Fan Page that in a recent survey, only 50% of respondents had said they had used the 3D features in Photoshop CS5 Extended.

I realize that Photoshop is a huge application. You can do just about anything with it, so I can understand how some features could get lost in the noise; but 50%? That seems a bit low, in my opinion. I understand that you guys use Photoshop in different ways; some for web design, some for photography, etc but I have a hard time believing that only 50% of you have used the 3D features in your work. Especially, since we have done so many 3D tutorials here on our site.

With that said, have you used any of the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 Extended? If so, what did you use them for? If not, tell use why.

Create a Grungy Looking, Blood-Stained Text Effect in Photoshop

Along the way, we will be using some custom brushes, layer blending effects for the text, cloud rendering + blending mode, and image adjustments. The overall process is quite simple and would be good for PS beginners. Have a try!
