Creepy House Animation

Hi, this time I wrote different kind of tutorial. Yeah right, creating creepy house animation using Adobe Flash. You will create short animation, including rain animation and lightning effect. No scripting required, just animation. Anyway, enjoy this tutorial.

 

1. First, you need to download FLA movie file provided here (Flash 8 format). In this tutorial, there are 3 shapes reside in 3 layers: lightning, house and moon.

2. Select shape in 'house' layer. You can select shape by clicking its layer. After that, press F8 in keyboard to convert into Symbol. Name this symbol, for example "house". Use Graphic as symbol type. Next, convert other shape in remaining layers.

Go to frame 30 in 'house' layer. Add frames (press F5). Also repeat the same process with 'moon' layer.

3. Next, you will create lightning effect. To create this effect, you need to make lightning drawing visible and invisible in turns. Move keyframe in frame 1 in 'lightning' layer to frame 10. Press F6 in frame 12 to add keyframe. Add keyframe again in frame 14, 16, and 18. After that, add frame by selecting frame 19 and press F5

Select keyframe in frame 12, and click lightning instance in stage. In Properties panel, use Color=Alpha and value=0%. This way, you make this instance transparent in frame 12. Repeat the same process with frame 16.

Scrub slider to watch nice lightning effect.

4. Next, we need to make house darker when there's no lightning. Go to 'house' layer. Create keyframe in frame 10,12, 14,16, 18, and 20 using F6.

Select keyframe in frame 1, select instance in stage, and in Properties panel use Color=Tint, color=Black, and value=70%. You will get darker image. Repeat the same process with frame 12, 16, and 21.

5. Nex, we will create rain animation. Let's begin by choosing the Line tool. In Properties panel, change line color to white. Add new layer on top of other layer(Insert>Timeline>Layer). Draw several diagonal lines like image below. Make sure your drawing is large enough compared to the stage boundary

6. Use Erase tool at several part of lines to make shorter lines like image below. Now, it looks more like rain.

7. Select several short lines and move to create more random looks.

8. Next, you will animate the rain. Make sure all rain drawing is selected. Press F8 and convert this shape into Graphic symbol. Press F8 again and this time convert into Movie Clip symbol

Final task. Double click this movie clip symbol. Now, you can edit this symbol. Add keyframe in frame 2, move drawing position a little bit. Repeat this process again at frame 3.

This tutorial is finished. Do a test movie (Ctrl+Enter)
